Sunday Budget Tip # 10
It is Sunday again, and we will take a break from our Food Fraud Series and focus on the tip for the week.
Tip # 10
Mother’s Day is coming soon. Most mothers would delight with any type of gift as long as it comes from the heart. You don’t need to impress your Mom with an expensive gift, but if you want to, a payday loan is a fast money option to use.
Tampered Products are not Worth Buying
This next food fraud topic is not at the top of the list, but it is still enough of a risk to share the concern. Baby formula is a common target for retail theft. The criminals often tamper with the expiration dates, or sell-by codes to add life to the product. This will give the criminal more time to pose this product as safe to buy. A reminder from a previous post about adulterated milk or powdered milk that can be used in making formula also adds to the risk factor.
Growing Seasons Reflects Products
Fruit juices will be covered in part 4 of this series. Believe it or not, fraudsters find it very easy to dilute juices without consumers noticing a change in taste or consistency. Both orange and apple juices have been found diluted with water; where as the more expensive juices, such as pomegranate, is diluted with apple juice. Once again, you as the consumer need to be reading labels and ingredients closely. Buy products from a trusted brand when looking to get the latest in the fruit juice craze.
Buy Local Products
The third part of the series from Spotya!Payday Loan will address the topic of honey. The Journal of Food Sciences says honey is one of the top food fraud cases. Food Safety News tests found out last year the three quarters of the store honey does not contain pollen. The removal of pollen makes it tough for the origin of the filtered honey to be proven. The National Honey Board says that it is not against regulations to filter the honey and that the pollen gets removed as part of the process to remove other bee part particles. The concern stems from findings of a third of fake honey, imported form Asia, having shown contamination from lead and antibiotics.
Trust Where Your Money is Spent
Our second part of this series is focused on milk. Consumers are at risk of buying this product that has been watered down and then melamine added to increase the protein content which will hide the dilution. Adulteration of milk is common enough to make it the second most common product subject to adulteration in the U.S. Pharmacopeial Conventions’s Food Fraud Database.
In 2008, there was a scandal from China with powdered milk that killed 6 infants and made hundreds of thousands consumers sick. With more of this happening abroad, you will want to be cautious about purchasing powdered milk or any similar product where the origin is not clear.
Getting Your Money’s Worth with Olive Oil
We all work hard to make ends meet with our budgets. It is alarming to read about food frauds that either waste our money and in some cases put our family’s health in danger. I read an article from Smart Money and wanted to share with you the eight largest frauds on products that we as consumers frequently purchase. When you do go looking for deal, please take note that there are fraudulent items to watch out for.
Part 1 concerns olive oil.
A Daughter’s Cost for Prom Night
Last week, we touched base on costs that can arise for a son’s night at prom. Let’s take a look at costs that a payday loan could help support with a daughter’s night to remember.
Sunday Budget Tip # 9
Cash advances come in handy when you need some extra money on those off pay weeks. The better you keep your budget on target, the sturdier your financial future will be. Sunday Budget Tips are written for the sole purpose as to offer ideas on how to save money to create or support a healthier budget. They are not a “one size fits all”, as we all have our own personal situations and life styles.
Tip # 9
Pot Roast for Dinner
Martha Stewart’s recipes have never failed me, so I am sharing this delicious crock pot dish that takes an inexpensive piece of meat and turn it into a wonderful meal. These slow cookers do wonders with these kinds of meats, tenderizing and adding so much flavor as it cooks slowly all day. These types of dishes taste just as good as a leftover meal. Low budget cost with no waste.
Pot Roast Recipe
1 tbs cornstarch
2 tbs cold water
8 medium carrots, cut in big chunks
2 medium onions – cut in big chunks
Prom Costs for your Son
It’s that time of year again, the kids are getting ready for the prom. A night to promise a lifetime of memories. If you have a son, it may not cost as much to get him dressed for the evening, but the boys end up shelling out a great deal of money for the whole night experience.
